Iranians gather in support of Lebanon terror victims
TEHRAN – Iranians living in the capital Tehran gathered in front of the Lebanese embassy on Wednesday to express their condolences after 12 died and 3000 got injured in simultaneous pager blasts set off by Israel in Lebanon.
The spontaneous gathering drew a large crowd as people from all walks of life came together to show support for the families of the victims and pray for the swift recovery of the injured. Attendees brought flowers and candles which they lay in front of the embassy’s entrance.
“This is our way of showing that we stand with Lebanon and its people,” said one attendee. “In times of tragedy, we must come together to support one another.”
Another participant told Iranian media that though the attack was shocking, it wasn’t anything Israel could not do. “The regime is built on terrorism and murder. So, nothing it does surprises me anymore. They want to burn the whole region down and will do anything in their efforts to do so,” he said, adding, “the inaction and impotence of international organizations like the United Nations against Israeli crimes is truly disgraceful.”
